Tree Planting

Planting coniferous trees in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!

On Wednesday 25th May, students from the Geography club at Rosedale College planted two coniferous trees in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This memorable event marks 70 years of the Queen’s service to the nation and calls on citizens to plant a tree to mark Her Majesty’s illustrious reign. The students were also aware of the annual Earth Day celebrations held on Friday 22nd April, recognising the theme: “Invest in our Planet”, and wanted their tree planting effort to recognise this event.

The coniferous trees were chosen because it is closely related to the evergreen family. Evergreens retain their leaves throughout winter, symbolising strength in hardship. Consequently, these trees were ideal to honour the Queen’s Green Canopy project.

Congratulations to all the young and active ambassadors of the Earth from Key Stage 3 who took part in the tree planting event.
