Year 8 Heathrow STEM Generation Workshop

On Tuesday 12th February, our Year 8 students took part in the Heathrow STEM Generation Workshop, an exciting event designed to develop employability skills and raise awareness of future career opportunities.
Students explored the wide range of roles available at Heathrow Airport and discussed the key skills needed to succeed in the workplace. They then applied their learning in a hands-on challenge, programming a robotic vehicle to follow a set route and complete specific tasks.
Working in teams, students took on roles such as Project Manager, Project Designer and Programmer. This required collaboration, problem-solving and clear communication to ensure their final product was effective and met the challenge criteria. The activity built on their prior coding experience using Scratch and provided a valuable opportunity to develop their technical and teamwork skills.
Our students represented the college exceptionally well, demonstrating enthusiasm, focus and resilience throughout the workshop. It was a rewarding and inspiring experience, leaving students feeling motivated and more informed about careers in STEM and robotics.
