The Royal College Of Music Trip

On Tuesday 30th June our music students went to visit The Royal College of Music, which was an extremely successful and enriching experience.

The day began with a guided museum tour, where students were engaged throughout. They listened attentively, asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine curiosity about the exhibits, demonstrating an enthusiasm for learning beyond the classroom.

Following the tour, students took part in an interactive workshop linked to the museum collection. Working collaboratively in groups, they completed a “Concerto Through Time” timeline and map activity, drawing on the knowledge they had gained during the tour. It was wonderful to see the level of teamwork, discussion and engagement as students confidently shared ideas and supported one another to complete the task.

The visit concluded with a chamber performance by Royal College of Music musicians. The vast majority of students were fully engaged and listened respectfully, appreciating the opportunity to experience live performance by exceptionally talented musicians in such an inspiring setting. Afterwards, many students enthusiastically reflected on the performance, commenting on how thrilled they were to witness musicians of such a high calibre and expressing how inspiring they found the experience.

Overall, the visit was fantastic. It provided students with valuable insight into the history of music, the development of the concerto, and the professionalism of world-class performers. The experience has undoubtedly broadened their musical understanding and inspired many to continue developing their own musical skills.
