Transition Day and Evening

Transition Day at Rosedale College!

On Tuesday 5th July, Rosedale College opened its doors to the new Year 6 students that will be joining us in September to become our Year 7 2022 cohort. The day started promptly at 8:45am with registration followed by an assembly in the main hall with our Vice Principal. The students were grouped into their probable Alliances, and were led by Teaching and Learning Assistants for a grand tour of the College grounds.

The day then kicked off with various fun and engaging lessons, for example: story auction, happy numbers, changing the world and French café, as well as some practical lessons in Science and Technology. Students were really excited to bake cookies and then take them home in a goody bag for their families to enjoy! Throughout the second half of the morning, the students were able to get active in a game of rounders, along with expressing themselves with some fun singing activities led by our Music teacher.

The students were able to relax during lunchtime, where they tested out the food in the canteen or ate their packed lunches before getting to explore the outside grounds further in the sunshine! After lunch, students returned to their form classes for a Question and Answer session where they could find out a little more about life at Rosedale College, enabling them to give us feedback on the day they had experienced. The programme was a complete success, and the amazing feedback from students was lovely to see.

The transition experience did however not end there, as parents, guardians and carers were then invited back at 5:00pm for our transition evening.  Families listened to a talk about what to expect at Rosedale College with our Vice Principal. Parents, guardians and carers were then able to view and size up the uniform and Physical Education (PE) kits, and sign-up to iPayimpact which would enable them to purchase the uniform online.  The evening was a great success, and the feedback from the families was equally very positive. We really look forward to welcoming our new Year 7s back in September for the start of their secondary journey.
