Are We at Melting Point? 29/11/21

Practical work is at the core of all lessons in the Science Alliance. Recently, students in Year 7 carried out a practical to determine the melting point of stearic acid. Finding the melting point of different substances is very important as it can determine whether the substance is pure or impure and also helps in the identification of unknown substances. Allowing our students to be exposed to these practicals from Year 7 helps them to develop the skills needed for GCSE and by extension, the wider scientific community. This is another example of students having fun while learning in the Science Alliance.
