Hillingdon Basketball Tournament 14/02/20
Year 7 students from Rosedale College participated in the Hillingdon Basketball Tournament held at Uxbridge College on Tuesday 4th February.
Students played the first game against Vyners School, which was a tight match. Both teams played extremely well, however Rosedale were lucky enough to score in the last ten seconds to finish a close game at 4-4.
The team’s confidence and teamwork took them into the second game against Haydon School, with Rosedale finishing with an easy 6-0 win.
They then faced Bishop Ramsey School in the next heat, where they took the lead within the first six minutes. The team scored in a fast break, resulting in a full-time score of 4-2, securing a place in the semi-finals.
Rosedale led the semi-final match against Uxbridge High, where students response to the instructions and their adaptability to different defensive formations was outstanding. The team managed to control the ball and reposition themselves, showing their ability to perform under physical and mental pressure. Students remained focused throughout the critical moments to secure a 6-4 win, taking Rosedale to the finals!
The final match was against Vyners School, and this was a very challenging game; both teams hungry for the win. Rosedale pushed through and managed to guard Vyners’ most valuable player, and putting Vyners under immense defensive pressure, the team managed to score the winning shot, making Rosedale the Hillingdon Basketball Champions! What an amazing tournament - well done team!
